Details: Launched in Autumn 2008, the CrimeAlerts website provides information on local crime, as well as a wide range of security advice.

It's still very much a 'work in progress', and I'm using my home town of Melton Mowbray as a test-bed.

I've had very positive responses to the site so far (particularly from the police), and I'm hoping to attract funding to develop the system further and allow other communities to use it.

Site features: As well as posting information on local crime, the site uses a sophisticated email alerts system to enable subscribers to select only those regions and topics that concern them.

All the information on the site is easily searchable - by date, region and topic.
